The actual dairy industry has done a great job of marketing milk because nature’s perfect food -- the foundation of an entire dietary food group, present in a large number of products that you and I consume every day. I find it unusual that we’re the only types who, once weaned through our own mother’s milk, consume the milk of an additional species’ mothers throughout our own adult lives. I’m doing this too and was raised on milk, but now it is time to rethink our aged habits. There’s a lot to reveal that humans aren’t made to consume dairy. Here’s something to eat for thought.
Milk’s Dietary Makeup Is Designed for Calves, Not really Humans
Just like humans, bovine have been evolutionarily designed to generate milk that nourishes their own young. So while dairy is an ideal food for lower legs, it’s not for people. The protein composition particularly can have negative effects for us. Both main milk proteins tend to be casein and whey : whey is much easier with regard to humans to digest, however cow’s milk is high in casein. If you don’t have four bellies, drinking milk is going to place a lot of stress on your digestive tract.
It’s also evident that almost all the worldwide population actually can’t stomach milk simply because they can’t digest lactose rapid a form of sugar in dairy. Trying to break it straight down often leads to bloating, cramping and diarrhoea. I remember going through this when I was younger but so naive in order to question why.
Milk is actually Bad for Bones
This is undoubtedly one of the major myths regarding milk and dairy, which it’s necessary for healthy bone fragments. In reality, milk does the opposing: far from feeding your our bones with the calcium they need to well-being and health, it depletes calcium from the bones! Milk is highly acidifying and when your body becomes as well acidic, it pulls calcium mineral from the bones to neutralise that excess acid. Calcium mineral is the primary alkaline nutrient that’s used to buffer acidity and lack of calcium will certainly negatively impact your bloodstream pH.
Scientific studies correlate improved dairy consumption with increased possibility of bone fractures from brittle bones. A large study in Laxa, sweden found women consuming a lot more than 3 glasses of milk each day had more hip bone injuries and had twice the fatality rate over 20 years when compared with women consuming less than 1 glass per day¹.
Dairy Can Contain Harmful Bodily hormones and Antibiotics
We’re trained to believe that pasteurisation can make milk safe, but there is one thing it can’t perform - filter out all the dangerous medications that make it into the whole milk after being pumped in to the cow. Nowadays, with contemporary farming production methods, the majority of dairy cows are greatly medicated, and some of the points they’re given have been associated with cancer in humans. Fortunately, you can avoid this particular end result by choosing to buy organic. Just like you would rather have organic meats to avoid hormones and anti-biotics, organic milk is a much better choice for the same reason.
Do not Avoid All Dairy However!
Now, I’m not necessarily stating that you have to give up all dairy products - I know that completely cutting out pizza and goodies is a massive sacrifice for a number of people! Interestingly, the same research mentioned above also found that will fermented milk products (cheese as well as yogurt) significantly decreased death and fractures among these types of women. For each serving of those fermented dairy products, the rate associated with mortality and hip cracks was reduced by 10-15%.
These days, there are also many substitutes readily available in the supermarket church aisle that make it easier than ever to reduce milk intake, almond milk as being a great one (imagine looking for almond milk 5 years back! )
